The Choreographer – Lizzi Gee
Lizzi is currently choreographing Onassis starring Robert Lindsay at Derby & the Novello, West-End, Oliver in Cyprus, the 3rd year of Sunshine on the Leith the Proclaimers musical (TMA Best Musical Award) at Dundee Rep & Tour & the Union's all-male Pirates of Penzance at Wiltons Music Hall (2010 Whatsonstage Award). Lizzi has previously worked for ITV as on-screen choreographer for ITV1’s primetime The Feelgood Factor, where she trained 6 school children to dance along with one of the current West End Billy Elliots. She also recently choreographed the Union Theatre’s critically acclaimed all-male production of Pirates of Penzance, and a workshop of a new musical Silk at the Orange Tree Theatre, Richmond.
Prior to this Lizzi was choreographer on Hair at the English Speaking Theatre in Frankfurt. Also last year Lizzi choreographed the original production of Sunshine on Leith (based on the songs of The Proclaimers) for the Dundee Rep/Scottish Tour. It won the TMA Award for Best New Musical, and due to its huge success she has just helped re-stage it for a new national tour.
In 2007 she worked as Resident Choreographer on Billy Elliot in the West End, having trained the original three Olivier award winning Billy’s in Tap, and also helped with the casting of the Australian production. She continues to work as a tap coach training potential Billy Elliots.
Last year she assisted Peter Darling on recreating the UK tour of Our House – The Musical and also choreographed the summer ‘08 Arena production of The Sound of Music in Cyprus.
Other credits include: Musical Stager for the West End production of Daddy Cool (based on the songs of Boney-M) at the Shaftesbury Theatre. (Nominated for Best Choreography WhatsOnstage Theatregoer Awards 2006 with Sean Cheeseman), Snoopy the Musical (choreographer for 21st Anniversary production at New Players Theatre), Crocodile Seeking Refuge (movement director for National tour), Dick Whittington with Julian Clary (choreographer at Derngate,Northampton), Jermyn St Theatre 10th Birthday Gala (Criterion Theatre), Musical Stages 10th Anniversary (Chor.&Dir.) & Grease (Arts Educational).
Lizzi also appeared as dance coach on Channel 4’s The Fit Farm.
Most recently Lizzi choreographed for London Studio Centre’s Jazz Company and a new short film Natalja.
Lizzi’s perfoming credits include: Mary Poppins (Prince Edward), Fame (Dance Captain UK tour), Scrooge (Dance Captain UK tour), Sunset Boulevard (UK tour).
